Beliefs

Statement of Faith

Shaws Creek Baptist Church fully supports and upholds the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
Below is a summary of our beliefs.

1.

We believe the Bible is the holy, infallible, inerrant Word of God.

The Bible is God-breathed making it the literal Word of God. God has revealed himself through His Word, and it is profitable for teaching, correction, and reproof. The Bible is without error and is complete truth.

2.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

We serve only one God who is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. God exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit - the holy trinity.

3.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, and in His miracles.

Jesus Christ is the incarnation of God in human flesh. Jesus is 100% God and 100% man. He lived a perfect, sinless life that no other person could ever live. Jesus purposefully gave up his life so that we may have our sins forgiven.

4.

We believe salvation is given by God's grace to any who repent and place their faith in Christ.

We are all sinners in need of a Savior. We cannot be good enough or do enough to earn our way to heaven. Anyone who repents, that is to turn away, from their sin and place their faith in Jesus Christ can receive forgiveness of their sins and salvation in Jesus Christ.

5.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

The Holy Spirit inhabits the heart of all who have believed and put their faith in Jesus Christ. The Spirit is one who allows the believer to lead a godly life. The Spirit provides correction and understanding of the Scriptures.

6.

We believe that Jesus Christ is coming again soon just as he promised.

Jesus spoke of a day when he would return to earth from heaven. He will usher in a new heaven and new earth where sin and evil will be eradicated. Those who have placed their faith in Christ will take part in this new heaven and earth.

7.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Every person who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ are now a part of the Church of Jesus Christ. While there are many local bodies of believers, often called churches, there is only Church which incorporates every believer who was and is.
